Photo of the Day: Newport Mansions Part 1

Newport, Rhode Island is famous for its mansions (the “summer cottages,” the second or third or fourth homes, of the wealthiest of the business tycoons).

These are photos of the Breakers, the Vanderbilt gem where my mother used to work as a tour guide, and the first mansion we visited on our family vacation this past summer.

About Laura

Paralegal with Master of Arts in Teaching in Museum Education, frequent museum visitor, based in Washington, DC. I care about what museums can do, both in terms of public offerings and internal practices, to make the world a better place. I blog about museum education ("informed"), the social work of museums ("humane"), and visitor experience ("citizenry").
