Remaining Stamptues

My temporary position at the Capitol Visitor Center has ended (I will write more about what I learned at the CVC, and what adventures will come next, in a later post). My projects of finding and photographing the 100 statues in the National Statuary Hall Collection, and learning which individuals have also been featured on postage stamps, has ended, and I will be resuming my project of visiting a new museum every week.

Here is a list of the “stamptues” (people honored both as a state statue and as the subject for a stamp) I did not get a chance to write about:

  • Ethan Allen
  • Stephen Austin
  • William Jennings Bryan
  • Jefferson Davis
  • Sam Houston
  • Robert E. Lee
  • Robert R. Livingston
  • Ephraim McDowell
  • Will Rogers
  • Charles Marion Russell
  • Sequoyah
  • Frances Willard
  • Brigham Young

About Laura

Paralegal with Master of Arts in Teaching in Museum Education, frequent museum visitor, based in Washington, DC. I care about what museums can do, both in terms of public offerings and internal practices, to make the world a better place. I blog about museum education ("informed"), the social work of museums ("humane"), and visitor experience ("citizenry").
